FORMING PARADISE : narrative sculptural, exploring concept, construction & surface

Steve Davies is known for his narrative, whimsical and sometimes disturbing cyber creatures with richly decorated surfaces. In this workshop Steve we will help you to explore and develop your own ideas about paradise in a direct response to the remarkable cultural and natural paradise that is Ubud, Bali. This workshop will explore a combination of hand building techniques, coil, slab, paddling, carving, inserts, assemblage and many others, that will allow you to develop the most whimsical of forms either functional or sculptural and let your imagination roam free. Delving into a widely diverse range of surfacing techniques we will draw out from the clay its inner form and begin the journey of applying, slips, stains, sgrafitto using drawing and painting techniques to complete the journey.
